Passion is a verb that Hollywood bandies about like the latest buzz word. But until you meet Silvio Pollio (you'd think just being Italian would be enough...) you haven't met passion.
Since a very early age, Pollio was a determined young first generation Italian Canadian growing up in Vancouver who had dreams of hitting the big screen big time. And he is not disappointing.
In high school, Pollio an amateur champion wrestler who was destined for Olympic fame, quit the sport to act in the award winning Frank Marshall directed feature ALIVE. Since then he has never looked back. A graduate of UBC, LANGARA, UCLA and VFS, Pollio has been actively honing his craft on his projects including HOW IT ALL WENT DOWN and SHUT UP AND SHOOT.
Inspired by the likes of Martin Scorsese, Frank Marshall and Clint Eastwood, Pollio's experiences have shaped his dreams and moulded his vision. Producer, Director, Actor and Screenwriter, Pollio has been able to pull it all together in the time that most people his age are still dreaming about.
His first feature, "HOW IT ALL WENT DOWN" was critically acclaimed and won Best Picture and Best Producer at the Queens New York International Film Festival, prior to being released theatrically in 2003.
His second feature, "SHUT UP AND SHOOT!" an original screenplay by Pollio, is a dark comedy/satire that deals with DVD Piracy, greed and downright cut throat techniques blended and woven to take the viewer for a ride and journey through Tinseltown. SHUT UP AND SHOOT was nominated for Best Actor and Best Director at the California Independent Film Festival and won Best Actor and Best Picture at the 2007 New York Hip Hop Film Festival. The film was also featured at 2007 Queens New York International Films Festival.
Shut Up and Shoot, starring Joe Cortese, Tom Sizemore, Daniel Baldwin and Gary Busey has been picked up for distribution by Koch Lorber Entertainment and slated for January 2009 release in Canada and the US.
Pollio recently completed his role in the Lifetime Movie, DANCING TREES, directed by ANNE WHEELER. Pollio plays SAL, the boyfriend of Brooke Burns, (BAYWATCH), whose friend played by Amanda Tapping (STARGATE, SANCTUARY) is killed in front of her young autistic daughter. Intrigue and suspense follows, as the two characters attempt to adopt the daughter who is steadily remembering the situation to her detriment. Currently airing on the Life Channel he is ready to tackle the next new challenge.
In the meantime, GUIDO SUPERSTAR, a short he wrote/produced/directed and starred in to compete for THE LOT, has found fame on YOU TUBE. As a direct result, he is anticipating turning that short into a full feature length film that begins where the YOU TUBE piece finishes. GUIDO has a lot of heart, and very few resources. Stuff happens when you hang with GUIDO.
Pollio currently has 17 scripts ready for production, two features in the can, and upcoming features set to go to camera in the new year. V.I.O.L.E.N.T., MY NAME IS COCA, ONCE UPON A NIGHT, are just a few of the scripts he's ready to take into production.
Residing in Vancouver, Silvio shares his home with his Jack Russell/Chihuahua cross named Zoe,
